What is Keystone Correction? The function of keystone correction is very important for projectors!

Fully automatic keystone correction has gradually become an essential function for home intelligent projection

As a projector, keystone correction uses many auxiliary functions, which can make the projector in different scenes such as at home, so that even if it is freely moved and placed, the picture can still be quickly squared, bringing a good look and feel effect.

However, projectors of different brands and price points have a large gap in keystone correction. Today, let us understand the importance of keystone correction.

What is Keystone Correction?

In the daily use of the projector, the position of the projector should be at right angles to the projection screen as much as possible to ensure the projection effect. If the verticality of the two cannot be guaranteed, the picture will be trapezoidal. In this case, the user needs to use the "Keystone Correction Function" to correct the keystone to ensure that the screen is a standard rectangle.

There are usually two methods for keystone correction: optical keystone correction and digital keystone correction,

Optical Keystone Correction: It is the axis shift. Same as a camera tilt-shift lens. There is no impact on physical pixels, and the image quality is basically unchanged.

Digital correction: The principle is to perform geometric transformation on the original image by interpolation algorithm for the trapezoidal distortion that will be generated by the home projection light path of the home projector to generate a reverse compensated trapezoidal image to compensate for the trapezoidal distortion of the image generated by the home projection light path, so that the The home-projected image presents a regular rectangle.
At present, almost all projector manufacturers have adopted digital keystone correction technology, and most projectors using digital keystone correction support the vertical keystone correction function, that is, the projector can adjust its height in the vertical direction, and the resulting trapezoid , through the vertical keystone correction of the projector, the screen can be made into a rectangle, which is convenient for users to use.

However, in practical applications, in addition to the need for vertical keystone correction, trapezoids are often encountered due to the offset of the projector's horizontal position. Many projector manufacturers have developed "Horizontal Keystone Correction". Both horizontal keystone correction and vertical keystone correction belong to digital keystone correction, which are used for shape adjustment and compensation of the image before display through software interpolation algorithm. Horizontal keystone correction solves the horizontal image keystone distortion caused by the inability of the projector mirror to be perpendicular to the screen, so that the projector can also achieve standard rectangular projection images on the side of the screen.

Classification of Keystone Correction

The projector is mainly divided into two types: manual keystone correction and automatic keystone correction. According to the direction, there are mainly vertical keystone correction (up and down), horizontal keystone correction (left and right), and there are four-way keystone correction and six-way keystone correction according to specific orientations. Wait.

Manual keystone correction: As the name suggests, it requires the user to manually adjust the settings step by step with the remote control. Click to set, and use the remote control buttons to manually adjust the screen according to the fixed points provided in the projector screen. The manual keystone correction process is more complicated and requires the user to be patient to adjust each angle of the screen.

Manual keystone correction is usually four-way keystone correction. By adjusting the four points of the upper, lower, left and right in the frame of the projector screen, the screen is a normal rectangle. A typical conventional bulb projector is manual keystone correction.

Automatic keystone correction: With the continuous advancement of projector technology, the keystone correction function is gradually more fully automatic and intelligent. Each brand manufacturer uses an interpolation algorithm to geometrically transform the trapezoid image and generate a reverse compensation image, so that the image presents a regular appearance. rectangle. The automatic keystone correction technology is more advanced, and users can easily experience the quick correction of the picture when using it, which is faster and simpler, and is mostly used in smart projectors.

Four-way keystone correction: By adjusting the four points of the upper left, lower left, upper right and lower right of the screen, the entire screen is adjusted to a rectangle.

Six-way keystone correction: It is four-way keystone correction plus the left and right tilt directions. It is generally used for automatic keystone correction, and the picture is instantly square. Smart projectors are widely used and are very popular among users. At the same time, the projector system can also be set to Manual keystone adjustment.

XGIMI AURA 4k UST LASER PROJECTOR After keystone correction, the picture quality is delicate, the color is reproduced, super light resistance, and with 2400ANSI ultra-high brightness, it can be seen during the day, and the image quality of the laser giant screen is more shocking at night, which can bring immersive cinema.
